Photobucket After missing a couple or so Lasang Pinoy events, I am trying to resurrect and resuscitate myself, in the nick of time!...with the 25th edition and a theme about anything BENTO. It focuses on lunchboxes or baon in our own lingo. What easier way but to make something that you simply steam, fry, garnish and pack most especially when you're faced with all the houseworks waiting in the bin and American Idol showing in an hour! Gosh! For me, well for us these Pinoy trinity of a meal [as i would like to call it] really works well. Anything in the si-log family. And this time it's all about longsilog with a little bit more such as mangoes, red onions, salted eggs...hence i would coin this my LONGSILATA instead. Photobucket Over the weekend, I happen to bump into...stumble upon...drool over these Red Mangoes in the Asian minimarket right around the neighborhood. For a dollar a piece, I have satisfied a craving that's been hanging in there for a while now. Yum! No, it's not the Philippine mango but it's good enough simply with bagoong[anchovy paste] or prepped into an ensalata/ensalada like so... Towed inside these pretty lunchboxes, the ensalata and the bagoong in one and of course the rice [SInaing in this case not the usual SInangag, just to make things clear] and longganisa in another, they are ready to go for M's lunch picnic in the office the next day! Oh, I am so in a i-miss-going-to-work mode right now:(. Anyway, it's about lunchtime and I made it right before midnight, Philippine time.... so I'd better go back to my own picnic, alone! and chillax! By the way, my BENTO baon lunchbox is from CORNINGWARE, the frenchwhite collection in oval, microwave and oven safe*wink*. I bought them on sale in their outlet store, buy one set get another for half the price! Good eh? I bought 4 smaller sets and 2 bigger ones. pwede na ring substitute yung mexican mangoes pero if you can find someone to “smuggle” burong mangga from pinas, mas better-er!!! have you tried making bagoong rice? it’s so yummy!
