Weekend Snapshot: one fine Easter Weekend

kumquat-1

Belated Happy Easter to all! The long weekend was on a half half of sorts as it was both productive and relaxing. We were able to rearrange furniture once again while doing a semi-general cleaning and it we were also able to do what we want to do other than work like watch until the wee hours of the morning and wake up whenever plus some like singing! Hee! after months, me and my daughter sang our hearts out for hours!

..let’s not forget the easter egg hunting that the kids had indoors [it was a very cold spring day!] nonetheless, i managed to take some outdoor snapshots for a few minutes and these are just 2 of them:) …more to come!

WS: got milk?

got-milk
…taken on our way to Connecticut last Saturday for my niece’s baby shower. it was a good day for a road trip that we decided to make it just a day trip. in total, M drove for almost 7 hours! can you just imagine how tired he can be? but it was all worth the trip. we get to see our relatives and the kids had fun playing with cousins alike. a change of atmosphere was also good for all of us.

Johnny Rockets

Photobucket

…it’s been a long time since we’ve been to Johnny Rockets. and i’m glad we did over the weekend. i missed eating in a feel-good hamburger chain reminiscent of old America. we first had a taste of this interesting restaurant back in New York. and so we had to try it again even though what we have here is just a segregated corner in a mall food court…still the quaint ambience is prevalent and the food is still good. unfortunately, we missed playing ‘Staying Alive’ this time because we requested for a bigger table and the only available one was at the corner that didn’t have this tiny jukebox…as some of you may know…when you play the said song with your 5 cents, all the wait staffs queue to do their signature hustle. it never fails to amaze the customers and even passers-by!:)

…getting a dose of spring here!

desperately seeking spring

The weekend went by so fast. Starting off with the kid’s Luau Dance on Friday night, which was fun especially for the girl. The little boy did not exactly have the best of times since his buddies weren’t around and the only kids surrounding him were girls! haha! Saturday was spent doing our usual weekly grocery shopping and a playdate for the kids. Now, Sunday…was entirely a family affair, other than C’s first Reconciliation where he just had to go to the priest and pray.  Afterwards, we heard mass and off we went!

…to the beach, where the kids got to play a wee bit since it was fairly sunny but still breezy. it was lunch time then and when we felt our tummy’s grumbling…literally! we crossed the street and had a lovely lunch at The Clambox. Fortunately, they re-opened a week ago after closing store during the colder months…

We are 4 days away until it is officially SPRING here and we just can’t wait! I, cannot wait…An entry to WS-spring-clambox

WS: Pho and a squirrel

pho
…sunday lunch at Pho Hoa. M’s ultimate fave soup, Beef Pho. a traditional Vietnamese dish with thinly sliced meat and rice-noodle swimming in delicious soup flavored with asian spices.  it’s a hint for me to start making some myself. although it is fairly priced at $8 for a large bowl, i still think home-made will save us some $$$ still, huh? considering that it has become a weekly craving for us now:]

squirrel
…i caught a glimpse of that cute little squirrel comfortably nestled atop a branch on a breezy day as i passed by my dining room window.  instinctively, i rushed to get my camera ready and take a snap! that’s the nearest zoom my lens can take, awww!

Weekend Snapshot: another snowy weekend

beetle
..a parked blue beetle in front of the house…

vines
….we were only expecting 2-3 inches of snow, but it turned out to be a foot! and to make things worse, M shoveled at around 4 pm only to wake up this morning with another 3 inches on top of that!

Weekend Snapshot: first meal

first-meal
…HAPPY NEW YEAR to all weekenders! this is our first meal for the year 2009. the first time we spent it with just the 4 of us, in our place. no traveling done, no cousins, no fire works either…just us.

bubbly
CHEERS!…the bubbly [no alcoholic content so the kids can do the traditional toast with us] at the strike of 12!

first-meal-2
…my fair share of holiday ham with pineapple, baked salmon, M’s Beef Calzone and the Caprese sticks I made…

fruit-salad
…the celebration won’t be complete without the colorful, festive and delicious fruit salad, right? coupled by S’s chocolate marshmallows. her own share for the whole spread. simple, traditional first meal…Media Noche as we call it back home.
